SNORING Treatments

Snoring can range from ‘simple snoring’ to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

During your first visit, we will complete an initial consultation.  We will take a detailed history which will include carefully screening both social and medical aspects.  Then we examine your head and neck and look in your mouth.

Fotona’s NightLase® Therapy

NightLase® therapy is a non-invasive, patient-friendly laser treatment for increasing the quality of your sleep. NightLase® therapy reduces the effects of sleep apnea and decreases the amplitude of snoring by means of a gentle, laser-induced tightening effect caused by the contraction of collagen in the soft tissues at the back of your mouth.
A full course of NightLase® therapy consists of between three and five separate 30-minute treatment sessions, approximately 3 weeks apart.  The final results of the treatment have been shown to last up to a year, so we recommend annual maintenance treatment.
Patients find NightLase® therapy to be a highly comfortable and satisfying solution. NightLase® therapy requires no device to be worn during sleep and involves no chemical treatment. It’s a gentle and easy way for you to regain a good nights rest.

Mandibular Advancement Splint

A mandibular advancement splint is a device that holds the lower jaw and tongue forward to enable more space to breathe which helps prevent snoring. Mandibular advancements splints are often effective for ‘tongue base snorers’. It is a two-piece appliance that has a soft inner liner. It hooks together at the front of your mouth and you can slowly advance your lower jaw forward.

Nutritional Therapy Services

Excess body weight can contribute to snoring. Even those who are not obese may carry excess fatty tissue around their neck and throat, which can cause snoring.

Our Qualified Nutritional Therapist, Annie Gill can work with you and give you the support and guidance you need for successful long-term weight loss. There are so many reasons why we gain weight above and beyond just simply what we eat. Many of your body’s internal systems will influence weight gain and impede weight loss. These can include how efficiently and effectively we digest our food, whether our adrenal glands are working too hard or too low due to excess levels of stress, to whether our hormones or thyroid are out of balance.

During an initial 90-minute consultation with Annie, she will investigate the various systems that modulate weight gain and assess which systems may be impeding weight loss. She will devise a Nutritional Plan that will include a bespoke food plan that adjusts/adds/eliminates the foods that may be impeding your weight loss, but above and beyond that, Annie will assess all your systems that are influencing weight gain and suggest modifications that can help support these systems more effectively.

Functional testing can be offered which typically includes: Stress Index Cortisol Testing, Food Intolerance Testing, DNA Diet and Fitness profiling and Gastrointestinal Stool Analysis. Where required, Annie may also suggest some Food Grade Supplementation.

Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)

We work as part of a multidisciplinary team along with your GP and secondary care practitioners. We will screen you for the signs and symptoms which may predict the presence of OSA. We will discuss a referral for sleep-related breathing disorders because a proper medical assessment of patients who exhibit signs and symptoms of OSA is essential and further treatment we can provide for you here at Snoring Solutions can only be provided as part of an integrated treatment plan.
